Good afternoon, I've been trying to ID a couple of asters for a while now, and have been staring at involcular bracts until my eyes are blurry, but am making no headway. Hoping you can point me in the right direction. Location is Providence County, RI. Thanks!

Dear sldz22, good afternoon. I can't see the leaves and stem of this American-aster, but based on the involucral bracts, rays, and leaf bases (i.e., the things I can see) it suggests an identification of Symphyotrichum novi-belgii. This species typically has involucral bracts that are largely green and loose (i.e., outcurving). Best wishes.
