  • Question

I think I might have Agalinis purpurea growing on a floating stump in our cove on Lake Arrowhead in southern Maine, Limerick (York county). Can you confirm? Or point me in the right direction, please? Thank you, Debbie.

    Answer

Dear Debbie, you more likely have Agalinis paupercula (small-flowered agalinis) given that you are in ME. Againlis purpurea is known only from one site (extant) and another historical location, both in salt marshes. I would need careful measurements of flowers and flower parts to tell you with certainty. Best wishes.
