Three dense clumps of this grass with narrow, stiff leaves are growing together in the woods in Lincoln, Massachusetts. The flowers remind me of another grass that was identified as Avenella flexuosa.

Dear jfc, good morning. This grass needs to expand just a little more so I can see the spikelets. Currently, they aren't fully open so I can't make out the details I need. It could be Avenella, but there are other species that have some of this morphology as well. Avenella flexuosa will have two awns (bristles) that extend from each spikelet (at maturity).
