Hi, I found this plant growing on a sunny street corner/traffic island in Chestnut Hill, MA on November 14. It was about a foot tall. In the picture it's fighting its way through some other plants (Sorry for the clutter). Is it Cow Vetch? Thanks!

BrooklineBiker, your plant is a species of Vicia (vetch), but I cannot tell you which one for certain, except to say it appears to be either Vicia cracca (bird vetch) or Vicia villosa (hairy vetch). I would need to see the sepals and pedicel attachment to the flower to know for sure (you can find the characteristics that separate these in the dichotomous key on Go Botany).
