Facts
Allegheny crowfoot is a rare native of moist forests, woodlands, fields and roadsides, usually in areas with high-pH bedrock. Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Vermont each have at most a handful of populations. Crowfoots are called this because of their deeply lobed leaves that look like the footprint left by a bird. Look for the fruits (achenes), with curved beaks. The yellow flowers bloom from May to July.
