New England distribution
Adapted from BONAP data
Native: indigenous.
Non-native: introduced (intentionally or unintentionally); has become naturalized.
County documented: documented to exist in the county by evidence (herbarium specimen, photograph). Also covers those considered historical (not seen in 20 years).
State documented: documented to exist in the state, but not documented to a county within the state. Also covers those considered historical (not seen in 20 years).
Note: when native and non-native populations both exist in a county, only native status is shown on the map.

2. Plagiobothrys trachycarpus (Gray) I.M. Johnson E
rough-fruited popcorn-flower. Allocarya trachycarpa (Gray) Greene • MA. Waste areas, wool waste.
Native to North America?
Yes and no (some introduced)
Sometimes confused with
- Cryptantha ambigua:
- corolla limb 3-4 mm wide in life, basal leaves often present during flowering, and mericarp attachment scar grooved on the inner median surface (vs. P. trachycarpus, with corolla limb 1-2 mm wide in life, basal leaves absent, all leaves borne on the stem, and mericarp with a raised attachment scar on the inner median surface).
- Plagiobothrys reticulatus:
- attachment scar of mericarp and often basal portion of inner keel positioned within a shallow trough created by folds of the pericarp, outer surface of mericarp with cross-ribs that lack teeth or prickles, and calyx 2–4 mm long (vs. P. trachycarpus, with the attachment scar of mericarp not situated within a trough, outer surface of mericarp with cross-ribs that are +/- toothed, and calyx 4–6 mm long).
