Location notes: near beech, birch, maple because in mid-late successional stage

Comments: deciduous leaves; simple leaf type; opposite leaf arrangement; pointed sinuses and serrated edges on leaves; long, shaggy ridges on bark that are lifting at ends; red leaf color in the fall
