Native Plant Trust: Go Botany Discover thousands of New England plants

Sighting: Orobanche uniflora at Undefined, undefined

by Rebelyell78512 on June 18 2020

Location notes: In neglected area between an ophthalmologist office and the yard of the residence next to it.

Comments: At first I thought it was Indian pipe. It took a little crawling through plants to understand that it wasn't Indian pipe coming up through the other foliage I was seeing. The difference I noticed initially was that the flowers were tubular, There's a yellow in the throat of it. The two top petals are positioned slightly upward, so it's not precisely symmetrical or radial . And the stem was smooth as opposed to being kind of layered as it is with Indian pipe.
