Facts
Sand-dune wallflower is native to the Midwest and western United States, although it is only common in western Nevada, western Idaho and the Pacific states. It is introduced in New England, sometimes being found in forests and forest edges and along trails in Maine. Native Americans had a range of interesting uses of this plant, including snuffing the dried, powdered seedpods to relieve nasal congestion, using the warmed root as a poultice to treat toothache, drinking a tea of the whole plant to treat muscle soreness, and making a yellow paint from the flowers.
