Facts
Canada dwarf-dogwood, a small, obligately outcrossing plant, launches pollen from its anthers by elastic energy stored in the filament. Pollen spores are released into the air at accelerations of up to 24,000 meters per second per second to an altitude of 2.5 cm, where they can remain suspended until they reach a receptive stigma on another plant.
