Facts

Urocholoa texana is native to the southern United States and northern Mexico. It belongs to a genus a grasses that are distinguished from related genera on technical, micromorphological characteristics. For example, the upper lemma (one of the scales that conceals the flowers) is minutely marked with horizontal wrinkles, a feature that requires dissection and magnification to observe.
