Facts

Rayless annual American-aster is native to moist, brackish soils in northern North America and Eurasia. However, it is introduced east of the prairies in winter-salted roadsides and waste areas, including salted roadsides in Vermont. It is considered to have originated in North America, crossing over the Bering straits to Asia during the Pleistocene.
