Facts
Native to eastern North America, Appalachian barren-strawberry is rare in New England. This plant is sometimes grown in gardens as a shade-tolerant ground cover. The common name refers to the superficially strawberry-like appearance of the leaves and flowers, although its fruits are inedible.
