Native Plant Trust: Go Botany Discover thousands of New England plants

Genus: Spinulum — interrupted-clubmoss

This genus has sporophylls grouped in a stalked, terminal strobilus (compare with Huperzia). While differing in many important features, Spinulum shares such features as terete branches, superficial horizontal shoots, and non-dendroid upright shoots with the genus Lycopodium. Sterile leaves change size during the growing season, so comparisons should be made on plants near the middle of their seasonal growth period unless specified otherwise.

Family
